Appraisal Sheet

The following is an appraisal sheet used to assess the qualities of a chinchilla from a show perspective. This is a representation of the standard appraisal sheet included in the NCS 'Guide to Quality Chinchilla' and is recommended for use in grading your chinchillas for breeding purposes.

This appraisal sheet can be used to record the qualities of your chinchilla when at full prime. Once the animal enters breeding and becomes soiled, or passes it's best condition (between 6 and 10 months normally) the appraisal sheet can be used to refresh you of the qualities of the chin.

The Show Champion at a top NCS show would normally have number 1 in all qualities. A Show Champion at a smaller show could have a couple of number 2 qualities with all the rest being number 1. No animal should be awarded Show Champion if any of its qualities have a number 3 grade, in fact no animal should be awarded a 1st ribbon if it has any number 3 grade. The Qualities detailed, are not in any order or priority. NCS judges will look for all of these qualities.
