The Black White cross is a combination of two Dominant mutations, the Gunning Black Velvet and Wilson White. The colour of this chinchilla strongly resembles that of the Wilson White, albeit where the you would expect Standard fur showing through, as in a Mosaic or a Silver Wilson White, you see Black Velvet fur instead. The Black White cross carries the ear, eye and tail hair colour of the Standard, and should strong;ly resemble a Wilson White, being a lovely blue-white colour.

Breeding Black Whites
The Black White mutation has been around on UK show tables for a long time, and is an established mutation of good quality, provided that it has been bred using the best Black Velvets and Whites, or by using the very best Standards with the Black White. The Black White cross may at times be judged in the Wilson White class, which actually is to it's benefit, since the usually strong Black Velvet fur can aide the fur strength of the White fur. There should always be a blue hue present, which adds to this mutation's attractiveness. As with all Mutations derived from the Wilson White, careful attention should be applied to the fur type, making sure no fur faults such as split grotzens and swirls (like rosettes) in the fur, are present.
